A coupon is boring. A scratch card is a moment

“Scratch to reveal your reward — 10% off, $5 off, free item or try again.”

The same discount budget, delivered as a small game. Customers scratch a digital card and see what they got, which is memorable in a way that a flat coupon is not — and it gives you the excuse to put a card on every table.

What the customer sees

From scan to reward, step by step

No app, no account, no download. The whole journey happens in a mobile browser on your branded page.

  1. Scans the card and lands on your branded scratch page.

  2. Enters the details you require before the card is revealed.

  3. Scratches the panel with a finger; the reveal is animated in the browser.

  4. Sees the prize the server already decided, with its code and fine print.

  5. Joins your rewards program from the same screen.

How to set it up

Configured in the builder, live the same day

  1. Build the prize table

Between two and twelve prizes. Each has a label, a reward type and a weight, and the weights must total exactly 100%.

  2. Start from the defaults

    The shipped table is 10% off at 30%, $5 off at 25%, a free item at 15%, $10 off at 10%, 20% off at 10% and try-again at 10%.

  3. Add inventory limits

Cap the grand prize at a fixed number of units so it cannot be won more times than you can honour.

  4. Decide on retries

Allow a second scratch after a losing card, or keep it to one.

  5. Deploy

Printed tabletop cards are the natural home for scratch campaigns.

What you can configure

  • Prize types and labels
  • Probability of each prize
  • Inventory per prize
  • Daily and campaign-wide limits
  • Scratch cover colour
  • Retry on a losing card
  • Required customer information
  • Expiration and redemption rules

Why it works

Weighted odds let you run a headline prize that sounds far better than your average payout actually is. A free dessert at 15% and a grand prize at 1% cost you very little, and the customer remembers the reveal, not the discount.

The outcome for this promotion is decided on our server before the customer sees it, so the prize cannot be forced from the browser.

Questions

Scratch & win questions

Who decides what I win — my phone or your server?
Our server. The outcome is drawn from your weighted prize table in a route handler before the animation begins, then the browser animates a result it has been handed. Nothing about the draw can be tampered with from the client.
Do the odds have to add up to 100?
Yes, and the builder refuses to save a table that does not. That constraint is deliberate: it means the printed odds are the real odds, which is what consumer promotion rules in most places expect.
Is a scratch card a lottery?
Rules vary by state and country. Because entry is free, no purchase is necessary and every card resolves immediately, most scratch promotions sit outside lottery rules — but the odds must be disclosed and you should check your local requirements before launch.
What does a 'try again' slice do to conversion?
It lets you run a much better headline prize on the same budget, and with retries enabled a loss becomes a second engagement rather than a dead end. Keep the losing slice at or under 10% or the game starts to feel rigged.
